Don't
dump it down the sewer!
Storm
drain are for carrying away storm water only!
Never
dump anything down the sewer!
Dumping
in the sewer can hurt in so many ways...
- Storm water
flows untreated
to the major waterways, estuaries and the
ocean. When you dump hazardous
materials in the sewer, these toxins go
directly into sensitive ecological
waters. Even non-hazardous materials
can change things like salinity, pH and
mineral balances in these waters, bringing
harm to the inhabitants.
- Dumping in
the sewer clogs the main storm water
draining system, making your house more
likely to get flooded during a
major rainfall event.
- Dumping in
the sewer increases
maintenance and repair costs
which translates into higher
taxes.
