E-waste
Electronic
Waste
Electronic
waste (e-waste) consists of any type of household electronics
that contain a circuit board. Many of these types of waste
contain toxic compounds and deserve a proper disposal like
mercury, lead, cadmium, and PCBs. CRTs can contain 4-8
pounds of lead in an average TV or computer monitor.
The toxic compounds are removed, the valuable metals are
recovered, and the recyclable materials are recycled. This
process minimizes the waste that goes to the landfill.
