High Density Polyethylene (HDPE)

Vinyl (Polyvinyl Chloride or PVC)

  • Used in the production of shampoo bottles, cooking oil bottles, fast food service items, etc

  • Can be recycled into fiberfill for sleeping bags, carpet fibers, rope, pillows

Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE)

  • Used in the production of grocery bags, bread bags, shrink wrap, margarine tub tops, etc

  • Can be recycled into new grocery bags

Polypropylene (PP)

  • Used in the production of yogurt containers, straws, pancake syrup bottles, bottle caps, etc

  • Can be recycled into plastic lumber, car battery cases, manhole steps

Polystyrene (PS)

  • Used in the production of disposable hot cups, packaging materials (peanuts), and meat trays, etc

  • Can be recycled into plastic lumber, cassette tape boxes, flower pots

Other resin or a mixture of resins

  • Used in the production of some squeeze ketchup bottles, "microwaveable" dishes, etc.

  • Generally plastic mixtures cannot be recycled
