Rechargeable Batteries

Rechargeable batteries are NOT accepted at the Debbie Marshall Recycling Center.  These batteries are NOT the common alkaline batteries we have grown up with.  The most common are labeled NiCd (Nickel Cadmium) LiO (Lithium Oxide, and Ni-MH (Nickel Metal Hydride).  These batteries are dangerous for the environment and need to be recycled or disposed of properly.

Recycling Options

  • Drop-Off Containers - Around the Bellaire-area there are dozens of location within a few miles which have barrels, bins, or boxes displayed in which you can drop your rechargeable batteries for recycling.

  • Many local area electronics stores like Batteries Plus, Circuit City, and Comp USA will accept these batteries from the public for recycling.  You may wish to call the store first to make sure they are recycling them.

  • Houston's Westpark Recycling Center - drop off center at 5900 Westpark, open Mon-Sat, 9 AM-5 PM (MAP)
